TTP Field Manual is brought to you by Joshy and Jonny, best friends and gaming enthusiasts from their local group, Trust the Process Hobbies. Die-hard fans of the Warhammer universe, we use this podcast as a platform to share our passionate (and somewhat humorous) ramblings about all things Grimdark.
By day, Joshy is a therapist; by night, he's an RPG aficionado who grew up on (not-so) Final Fantasies and crafting his own Dungeons & Dragons worlds. Jonny, a hospitality manager, spends his downtime conquering more video games than Joshy can keep track of.

Hello, every one of you listening to this sweet voice, I'm Joshy, joined as always by my good mate, Johnny.
Joshy:Hi, Johnny.
Johnny:Hi, Joshy.
Johnny:How you doing?
Joshy:Yeah, I'm okay.
Joshy:I just want to apologize to our lovely listeners about the last episode coming out later than usual.
Joshy:I was a bit unwell.
Joshy:I likely still sound a bit unwell.
Joshy:Where we live is having a bad time.
Joshy:Yeah, Ain't that right, Johnny?
Johnny:Yeah, we've all been a little sick, but we're still here and we're still kicking.
Joshy:Look, if I can no longer talk about Warhammer, I have truly been lost to the sickness.
Johnny:Nurgle will take you then.
Joshy:I'm not a Nurgle guy, unfortunately.
Joshy:But we're here.
Joshy:We are going to talk today about Kill Team.
Joshy:Before we talk about Kill Team, we're going to talk about the recent Warhammer.
Joshy:I don't even know what reveal show it was, but they revealed some stuff.
Joshy:We're going to talk about it.
Joshy:Before that.
Johnny:It was the world championship Reveal show.
Joshy:Hmm.
Johnny:You know what, People that play the.
Joshy:Game, you know what?
Joshy:Not my niche anyway.
Joshy:Beyond that, I do.
Joshy:Well, actually, not beyond that.
Joshy:Very in league with that.
Joshy:I want to ask you about how your hobby was before we all stopped hanging out.
Johnny:Oh, last week.
Johnny:Yes.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:How's your hobby been?
Johnny:Well, painting wise, I've done very little because obviously I've been unwell as well.
Johnny:But the game on Tuesday was pretty fun.
Johnny: We did a three way: Johnny:No, it was good fun.
Joshy:You got to bring your Chaos Knights.
Johnny:I sure did.
Johnny:I love those boys.
Joshy:It looked pretty good for a while.
Joshy:I was playing on a different board, a different game, and I looked over at what Battle Round four and you were still holed up in your deployment zone being what's it?
Joshy:Yelled at by a bunch of orcs.
Johnny:Yeah, yeah.
Johnny:While the World Eaters were sneaking around trying to do sneaky stuff.
Joshy:Yeah, you got bullied hard.
Johnny:But hey, these things happen when you play nights.
Joshy:I played Boarding Actions, the game that you were also supposed to be playing.
Joshy:I brought Necrons to my Boarding Actions game.
Joshy:Almost one didn't do a very good job screening.
Joshy:I'm not used to tight confines with my Necrons, I must admit.
Joshy:Umm, I did not build my illuminal Xeras, by the way.
Johnny:Yeah, and I forgot to bring mine for you to use as well.
Joshy:Oh my God.
Joshy:Chat.
Joshy:So last week Johnny forgot to bring me an Illuminar's errors.
Joshy:He forgot to send me his Audio for me to edit for the podcast episode.
Joshy:And he forgot to bring me my birthday present he said he had for.
Johnny:Me, which is still sitting on my desk.
Joshy:Hey, I'm not going to get around to it just yet, I think.
Johnny:No, I think it's a next year project.
Joshy:But I did look into your gift and I know what I'm going to build them as.
Joshy:So I did a little bit of work.
Johnny:Yay, Hobby Star.
Joshy:Turns out you can build them as more than just battle.
Joshy:Sister squad.
Johnny:Sure can.
Joshy:Dominion Squad.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:That's part of.
Joshy:Can you tell the difference?
Johnny:No, it's a weapon profile.
Joshy:It's the guns.
Joshy:I looked up a very interesting combo wombo for those girls.
Johnny:Oh, no, I don't like combo Wombo's because they're gonna have melts.
Joshy:Give them like.
Joshy:Yeah, give them like four flamers.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:Give them Bringers of Flame detachment.
Joshy:So assault keyword guns.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:Assign them with a character that gives them like an invulnerable force save, which happens to be one of two characters I own.
Johnny:Nice.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:You put them in a rhino, which at the start, again, gives them a.
Johnny:Scout move and then moves like ridiculous movement.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Turn one, you just zoom them out, put them on the objective, which generates you miracle dice, by the way.
Joshy:And then you just look at your opponent and say, try me.
Johnny:Guess what's inside.
Joshy:Get closer to me and my like multiple strength.
Joshy:Six flamethrowers, Dolph, six bringers of Flame.
Joshy:You can give them like extra strength.
Joshy:I'm pretty sure.
Joshy:Could be wrong.
Joshy:It's basically salamanders, but for sisters.
Johnny:That's hitting terminators on threes.
Joshy:Look, These girls are T3 on their own.
Joshy:They need some help.
Joshy:And unfortunately for my opponents, it will be in their guns.
Johnny:Yeah, I just gotta shoot them before they get close enough.
Joshy:I've been reading up on the Reddit, which is usually not a great thing, but I find success.
Joshy:I've learned that you need to spend like two to three turns just staging them.
Joshy:Like putting them into like the right places, keeping them out of sight, putting them in the buildings, not being too aggressive.
Joshy:And then when you're satisfied, you like spring the trap.
Joshy:Every unit just goes into this full on aggression mode.
Joshy:And if you play your cards right, you substitute out all the bad dice with your miracle stuff that you've been building up over the first few rounds.
Joshy:Your opponent will just be there, like the heck happened there.
Johnny:So what I'm saying is you play like an orc and you call a wa and then you rush in except.
Joshy:It'S just Bolter and Flamer.
Johnny:Yes.
Joshy:But I think that's a great segue.
Joshy:Like next year, Next year Army project.
Joshy:You know, I'm a little bit like positively po'd after some of the recent announcements.
Joshy:Like positively po'd.
Joshy:I'm like, heck yeah, look at that.
Joshy:But also like, there's some really pretty, pretty reveals.
Joshy:Let's talk about the reveals discussion.
Johnny:Let's do it.
Joshy:Let's do it.
Joshy:So Warhammer, as it turns out, world championship happened.
Joshy:They revealed a bunch of stuff and I just want to say I think they cooked.
Johnny:Yeah, no, this.
Johnny:This was the preview show we wanted for the last couple of preview shows.
Joshy:This is what Adepticon promises you it's going to be.
Johnny:Yeah, they revealed a lot of models.
Joshy:Across a lot of systems.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:All their main systems.
Joshy:They announced this stuff, this amount of stuff.
Joshy:Despite having launched new additions of both Kill Teams and Warhammer underworlds.
Joshy:Like, they just have all this stuff.
Joshy:The mad lads.
Johnny:Not only that, they got a lot of 40k reveals when they said we weren't getting anything else for a while.
Joshy:Well, this is all their next year stuff.
Johnny:I know, but I wasn't expecting reveals till next year.
Joshy:I think they needed to get some goodwill in the community that they actually had somewhat of a plan.
Johnny:Yeah, it was getting a little boring there for a little bit with their reveals.
Johnny:They went from very constant to like, we're done.
Joshy:Isn't it amazing that for so much of Warhammer's history they had this sort of drip feed of releases, like a codex here, models there, and then like 9th edition, 10th edition.
Joshy:Like Warhammer community has an article about something new like every other day.
Joshy:Yeah, insane.
Joshy:But what they revealed.
Joshy:Let's start off with the old world.
Joshy:I don't really have anything to say about the old world.
Joshy:One of the classic factions, the Empire of Man, is getting all of their old stuff resculpted, I suppose, made available once more.
Joshy:I think Forgewell's adding a couple of new resin miniatures to add to the bunch.
Joshy:I like Fantasy Imperial Guard worse than Sci Fi Imperial Guard, but if you like these guys, I'm happy for you.
Joshy:I'm happy for you and your puffy pants.
Johnny:They also have like this really weird kind of vibe to me, where they're a bunch of dudes with guns and then they're like, oh, by the way, here's a tank in your fantasy game.
Joshy:Oh, the Steam engines.
Johnny:Yeah, like the steam engines just feel really weird.
Johnny:It's like, here's a horse drawn cart full of dudes with guns next to a tank.
Joshy:Isn't there one that's like half of an inn on one of these tanks and it's just a bunch of dwarf snipers inside.
Johnny:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Johnny:It's really weird.
Johnny:But I mean, Old World has a lot of whimsy, right?
Joshy:Yeah, Old World has a lot of whimsy.
Joshy:I try and be very respectful of Old World because without it we wouldn't have everything else.
Johnny:This is where it all started.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:And I'm not actually so against some of the armies, the Chaos Armies, the orcs actually look pretty fun.
Joshy:I really like the orcs.
Joshy:Still would probably go with the Bone Boys, the Skeleton Council, Tomb Kings, or whatever they are called.
Johnny:The square skeletons, as I like to call them.
Joshy:I don't like square bases, but if there's something I do like, it's having those little templates where you can fit all the models inside the template and you move them as, like, one chunk.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Do you know how much time you spend in 40k moving every individual Dude.
Joshy:Holy.
Johnny:I mean, yes, yes.
Johnny:Those big blobs of 20 Necron warriors are rough.
Johnny:Right.
Joshy:You know what you can do with the templates in Old World?
Joshy:You can, like, kit bash, like, banners and miscellaneous things to, like, pad out the template if you don't have enough models for the template size.
Johnny:Oh, that's pretty cool.
Joshy:Right?
Johnny:Placeholders.
Joshy:And so I've seen YouTubers do, like, tomb King totem poles, the Bretonnians with their colourful banners.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:It's sick.
Joshy:But I don't have really anything to say about Old World.
Joshy:I'm not gonna collect it.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Nah.
Joshy:Horus Heresy, they released a.
Joshy:Well, not released.
Joshy:They announced a plane in plastic.
Joshy:In plastic.
Joshy:That's always a good sign if you don't know.
Joshy:Most of Horus Heresy's stuff originally, anyway, was in resin.
Joshy:Resin is a rather tricky material to work with, especially as a new hobbyist.
Joshy:It's the stuff 3D printers use for the most part.
Joshy:And Horace Heresy and a lot of the old Forge World stuff is resin.
Joshy:They label it as expert kits on their website because it's a little bit trickier to work with.
Joshy:You know, you need a different glue.
Joshy:The pieces might not have as much detail.
Joshy:Maybe they're a little bit softer than plastic.
Johnny:They also don't like to glue as easily.
Johnny:You need to clean them down before you do much with it.
Johnny:It's just a different challenge.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:But in the last year we've had the Solar Auxilia, the Horus Heresy timeline equivalent of Imperial Guard, which are More steampunk looking.
Joshy:I like them.
Joshy:They also released the Horus Heresy equivalent of the Mechanicus, which has a lot more of an automata robotic vibe than 40k.
Joshy:I really like them too.
Joshy:It's sick.
Joshy:Go Horus Heresy.
Joshy:If I have one thing I don't like about Horus Heresy, though, they announce like one model every week or two.
Joshy:And it doesn't matter if it's a new army or an old army.
Joshy:They just announce like, here's a character.
Joshy:Like, what if you already have this character?
Joshy:What if you just bought this character?
Joshy:What have you, you know, got into Horus Heresy?
Joshy:You're like, I'm going to build Alpha legion.
Joshy: You make: Joshy:And then a week after you do that, they're like, oh, here's a brand new Alpha legion, you know, sergeant.
Joshy:Or here's a 10 pack of shoulder pads for Alpha Legion.
Joshy:You're like, I fucking hate you.
Johnny:I mean, the release of an upgrade kit is a little frustrating.
Johnny:Or a heavy weapon.
Johnny:It does mean that.
Johnny:It does mean that as they move deeper into Horus Heresy, there are more options.
Johnny:And some of the models in HH are cool.
Johnny:I mean, one of the things they did reveal is a dreadnought bristling in guns.
Johnny:That looks a little silly, but also that's a lot of firearms.
Joshy:Is that the Duredio, the Darridio, or as I like to call it, the Der E Do.
Johnny:But are you ready?
Joshy:Do I realize that it wasn't just a plane they announced as well, but a really long tank.
Johnny:Yeah, a tank that comes with a trailer.
Joshy:The flamethrower alternative is amazing.
Joshy:Adorable.
Joshy:You have a tank buster neutron laser thing which looks like a train sized tank.
Joshy:The alternative build is a heavy flamer, but in the like blurb they say that it needs more fuel than it can carry.
Joshy:So it's got a little steam engine on the back.
Johnny:Yeah, it's just got a fuel tank on wheels towed behind it like a trailer.
Johnny:And it's adorable.
Joshy:But you know what I like?
Joshy:You know what I like a lot about the Heresy era tanks?
Joshy:Most of them have Legends data sheets for 40K.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:And they look so much better.
Joshy:There's the flame tank.
Joshy:I don't remember what it's called, but the flame tank would go really well for one of their announced ranges in 40k.
Joshy:That we'll get to in a bit.
Johnny:It is a Mel Dor.
Joshy:What a.
Joshy:What a guy.
Joshy:It we'll do a Malcador episode one day.
Johnny:Maybe we'll see.
Johnny:But yeah, that's hh.
Joshy:Well, that's hh.
Joshy:Age of Sigmar Destruction.
Joshy:Megafaction cooking.
Joshy:Auruk War Clans.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:What do you know about the Auruk War Clans, Johnny?
Johnny:The Yellow Orcs.
Joshy:The Ironjaws is what you're referring to.
Joshy:The Auruk War Clans is going to do something interesting.
Joshy:They are going to combine two factions into one book.
Johnny:Oh.
Joshy:They are going to combine the Iron Jaws, which are your brutish muscly, which.
Johnny:Are orcs in yellow.
Joshy:They tend to.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:They have metallic armor plate now.
Joshy:They do paint yellow.
Joshy:These guys love their metallic plate armor.
Joshy:They love to ride around on, like, ginormous boars, like wild pigs.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:And they.
Joshy:I'm pretty sure it's Gork, but they follow the brutal might of Gork.
Joshy:Whereas the Cruel Boys are your spindly, cunning, lightweight orcs that come from more of a swampy area of the setting.
Joshy:They use a lot of, like, magic to make you hallucinate.
Joshy:They use a lot of ambush tactics, spears and wizard orcs, etc.
Joshy:And they're called the Cruel Boys.
Johnny:Yeah, the Yellow Orcs.
Joshy:And they.
Joshy:Are they yellow?
Joshy:I thought they just looked like putrid orcs.
Johnny:Ah.
Johnny:In the reveals, they showed a yellow dude.
Joshy:Oh, the new character.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:The palette of skin tone for the Cruel Boys is like swampy stuff.
Joshy:Yellows, oranges, browns, icky greens.
Johnny:They give me vibes.
Joshy:Yeah, absolutely.
Joshy:They are the cunning style of Mork versus the brutal style of Gorr.
Johnny:Nice.
Joshy:I'm not sure exactly if the two factions will remain estranged from one another in that they've just been smooshed together into one book, or if they're going to be folded into the war clans as a Orc megafaction.
Joshy:They announce the character, which is classic Age of Sigmar.
Joshy:If you're not getting a model range update, you get a character.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:For this, it's the slitter boss who's really good at killing characters on a random chance.
Joshy:Oh, they got some.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:If you go into a fight with them on certain roles, he just, like, kills the hero.
Joshy:I think that seems terrible.
Joshy:Right.
Joshy:They got some fortifications which are much more usable in Age of Sigmar.
Joshy:Certain factions actually have a lot of their game plan around the fortifications and building esque units that they have access to.
Joshy:I really like their orc towers.
Joshy:I suppose the boss rock tower, the one that's designed for the Iron Jaws, I think is meant to be more for, like, a rallying war cry leader, whereas the one designed more for the Cruel Boys Is more for like their sort of shamans and long range casters.
Joshy:Either way, I think they look really flavorful.
Joshy:Just like their endless spells that they are receiving.
Joshy:The endless spells is something that every unit.
Joshy:Sorry, not unit.
Joshy:Every faction gets in Age of Sigma.
Joshy:In Age of Sigma they have like a sorcery phase.
Joshy:Your faction sorcerers get to choose a spell.
Joshy:They can cast it.
Joshy:If they hit the threshold with the dice roll, the endless spell materializes represented by actual token game pieces.
Joshy:And can you explain to me what you're looking at right now, which is so funny?
Johnny:Oh man.
Johnny:It's a literal foot.
Joshy:Do you know whose foot that is?
Johnny:It's Gork's foot.
Joshy:It's Gork's foot.
Johnny:And then there's a footprint.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:And that swamp, that swampy bit, that's the blood of Gork.
Johnny:Oh no, this is great.
Johnny:Endless spells are great.
Johnny:I wish 40k had endless spells.
Joshy:Too confusing.
Johnny:Oh, I just mean like the cool.
Johnny:The cool models.
Joshy:No, no, like I just make it a dig at the player base.
Joshy:Too confusing.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:We lost our psychic phase.
Johnny:They get endless spells.
Joshy:That's the joke.
Joshy:That's the joke.
Joshy:They simplified the new addition of 40k and they took out the spell casting phase.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:Alright, so other than orcs, what's next?
Johnny:Git mob?
Joshy:The Gloomspite Gits.
Joshy:Now, the Gloomspite Gits are your goblin's army.
Joshy:They are the little runts that usually follow the orcs around.
Joshy:The Gloomspite Gits are a sullen bunch of nocturnal goblins.
Joshy:The Gloomspite Gits revere a construct known as the Bad Moon that when it appears in the night sky drives people crazy.
Joshy:And they love it.
Joshy:They have spiders, mushrooms, squigs.
Joshy:They are the sort of mounts that they run with sick wolves.
Johnny:I love their little like flame sun coronas that they have on their back.
Johnny:Made of metal that are just strapped onto wood.
Johnny:These guys feel very kit bashy.
Joshy:Well, these are no longer the Gloomspite Gitz.
Joshy:This is the Git mob.
Joshy:Instead of revering a bad moon, they revere ready for it, their evil sun.
Joshy:These are instead of being a bit sort of sullen and pallid and thin, they're a little bit pudgier, brutish and aggressive goblins.
Joshy:And they love their wolf mounts.
Joshy:They love their ramshackle constructions.
Joshy:Very orcish.
Joshy:And this is sort of like a sub faction being added to them.
Joshy:I think they look really cool.
Joshy:I think they did a great job with these models.
Joshy:My favorite thing about the range we've got is they have a named character, a guy who's on a wolf mount.
Joshy:Hilariously, the goblin that's riding him is not the first of his name, but the newest to represent the title.
Joshy:Chosen to be the recipient of this title by the wolf.
Johnny:Oh, wow.
Johnny:Okay.
Joshy:The wolf is the head of the.
Johnny:Operation and this dude just happens to be the one on the back.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:But that's Age of Sigmar.
Joshy:That's what we got.
Joshy:A couple of destruction factions.
Joshy:What do you think?
Johnny:I like the 40k to sigmar kind of crossover of the bad moons and the evil suns and this sort of stuff.
Joshy:Do you know what they call the evil sun glare face?
Joshy:Frazzlegit.
Johnny:Oh, God.
Johnny:Because it's glary.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:But yeah, you were saying?
Johnny:I really like the wolves.
Johnny:I think they've got some very nice detail.
Johnny:The fur looks like a blast to try and paint.
Johnny:They look really silly while still being semi intimidating.
Johnny:Which fits into that like gobliny vibe.
Johnny:But destruction just ain't where my fancy is when I look at Age of Sigma.
Joshy:Where is it?
Johnny:Honestly?
Johnny:Chaos and order.
Johnny:Like there's a few order ones contrary to 40k, where I actually don't mind some of the order fact.
Joshy:Yeah, they did some different things.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:But chaos exists everywhere and I love it.
Joshy:Shall we go into 40k?
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:We got two big reveals for 40k.
Joshy:Aeldari.
Johnny:Ah, of course.
Johnny:You want to start with the Aeldari bloody Oath, mate.
Johnny:Let's do it.
Joshy:Oh my God.
Johnny:Show me.
Johnny:What?
Joshy:I was just.
Joshy:I was just excited for Fugen.
Joshy:Right.
Joshy:But Fugen was, I think leaked by a warehouse person.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:They made.
Joshy:So they announced.
Joshy:They announced Fuegan.
Joshy:No problem.
Joshy:They just got ahead of that.
Joshy:Easy.
Joshy:The reveal here brought everyone except for one Phoenix Lord, everyone.
Joshy:That wasn't updated.
Joshy:Last edition got updated.
Joshy:We have.
Joshy:Well, I'll get to it.
Joshy:Hang on.
Joshy:So we have Azerman, who is the original Phoenix Lord.
Joshy:He is also what the Aeldari actually named themselves after.
Joshy:Is him.
Johnny:Yep.
Johnny:The Azayani.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:His.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Azur.
Joshy:Azerman.
Joshy:Azayin.
Johnny:Anyway, which he is the Azaman Dire Avenger.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:He is like the basic guy.
Joshy:Unfortunately a sick model.
Johnny:But he's not with a really.
Joshy:He's not a basic guy in combat.
Joshy:He's just the most generic fighter.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:I like the flag they gave him.
Johnny:It feels very, very old school.
Johnny:Warhammer.
Joshy:So he's there.
Joshy:He's the one that teaches all of the other Phoenix Lords.
Joshy:The Phoenix Lords themselves are immortal.
Joshy:The armors they wear are a gestalt, sort of psychic collection of all the previous wearers of the armor.
Joshy:But the actual Phoenix Lords are always there, which is why people tend to like them a lot, because it's an icon rather than a person.
Joshy:We got Fugen and we got Fugen's Aspect warriors, the Fire Dragons.
Joshy:These are your anti tank folks.
Joshy:Bright orange long burning lasers.
Joshy:We got Warp Spiders, which are teleporting fast attack units.
Joshy:And for the first time ever, we got a Phoenix Lord for them, Lycus, who is a woman.
Joshy:That's great.
Joshy:Lycus is the greatest model they've released in a fricking long time.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Imagine all they had to do was take something out of Marvel's book.
Johnny:Right, and make Spider Man.
Joshy:Do you know what the Warp Spiders actually are inspired by?
Johnny:Not inspired by.
Johnny:That's going way before my time.
Joshy:So at the heart of Craftworlds, they have the Infinity Circuit.
Joshy:That's where all the souls of the Eldar go when they die.
Joshy:They get collected in these little gems and they are stored safely in the Infinity Circuit.
Joshy:Warp Spiders are quite literally tiny bacterial creatures of the craft world that maintain the Infinity Circuit by chewing off any little Warp bacteria that threatens the safety of the craft world.
Joshy:And the Warp Spiders looked at these things and thought, bet Warp Spiders travel by tearing a hole into the warp.
Joshy:Go through it, Come out of it.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:They're sick.
Joshy:I love them.
Joshy:We also got.
Johnny:And forearm bore.
Johnny:I think that's real cool.
Johnny:No, no, that's not all we got.
Joshy:Who else did we get?
Johnny:We also got Barroth and his.
Joshy:Oh, my gosh.
Joshy:I knew I was forgetting that.
Joshy:Forgetting Baharoth.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Baharoth looks very authentic to his old design, which is great.
Johnny:The wings are gorgeous.
Joshy:The sweeping hawks are very cool.
Joshy:Something interesting of note is that several of the aspect warriors have helmetless options to represent their Ynnari affiliation.
Joshy:I find that quite interesting.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:And then the last part of the spoiler for Aeldari, the part you were the most interested in.
Joshy:Yeah.
Johnny:We're getting eight detachments.
Joshy:Ooh.
Johnny:One of which is going to focus on the harlequins.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:In the Ghosts of the Webway Detachment, you get new girls back.
Johnny:Awful boys.
Joshy:Yes, they thems, they're canonically trans people.
Joshy:No one will tell you that, though.
Joshy:Anyway, it's all very exciting.
Joshy:I like that the Codex art they announce is just Fugen stepping on what's quite obviously an Emperor's children.
Joshy:Maria.
Joshy:How rude.
Johnny:They had to introduce some slender background somehow.
Johnny:Right.
Joshy:Notice the Emperor's Children nipple plate.
Johnny:I sure did.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:But yeah, very exciting with the Exception of the Striking Scorpions, Phoenix Lord Karandras, and maybe the Dire Avengers, depending on how recently they were done the craft.
Joshy:Elder is fully here in the modern era.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:They may have lost a couple of their characters to history, but for the most part we have arrived.
Johnny:All the aspects at last.
Joshy:Fantastic fan.
Joshy:Bloody tastic.
Joshy:I'm so excited to be an Aeldari fan again.
Johnny:Such an exciting reveal for Aeldari players.
Joshy:It is manners.
Joshy:And they.
Joshy:They just cooked like.
Joshy:Azaman looks great.
Joshy:Baharoth looks great.
Joshy:Fugen.
Joshy:Oh, Lycus.
Johnny:Oh yes.
Joshy:So well done.
Joshy:And the actual aspect warriors themselves all look very good.
Joshy:They look very tributary, I suppose, to their original designs.
Joshy:They look very, very much what you want them to look like as a fan.
Johnny:Yeah, they are very well put together.
Joshy:How do they compare in your eyes to Krieg?
Johnny:Oh, these guys are all the rage.
Johnny:We skip the.
Johnny:We skip Krieg.
Johnny:Right.
Johnny:Krieg, they got our lowest rating in our Slag, so surely we're not that interested.
Johnny:Right.
Joshy:I have to put in a little.
Joshy:But here.
Joshy:If there's one thing I love about the various Imperial Guard regiments, because that's what they're called, is that they all present so uniquely from one to the next.
Joshy:You got Cadians, which are your more basic troop, but you've got the Catachen Jungle Fighters, for example.
Joshy:We now have the Death Korps of Krieg, which if you were to fully translate that sentence into English, is the death core of war.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:Krieg is the German word for war.
Joshy:I'm pretty sure.
Johnny:Hey, don't step on any toes.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:But the Death Korps of Krieg are going to, for the first time, receive a really big modern range update as part of the model range to go with the generic Astra Militarum, Imperial Guard, whatever you want to call it.
Joshy:Codex coming next year.
Joshy:We got a lot of stuff.
Joshy:We got a named character on zombie horse.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:We got Death Riders.
Johnny:Can I just.
Joshy:Combat engineers.
Joshy:Can I just join Artillery command squad.
Joshy:Heavy support squad.
Joshy:And you're about to rant on zombie horses?
Johnny:Yeah, yeah.
Johnny:Sorry to interrupt that flow of religions.
Joshy:No, you're fine.
Johnny:But why.
Johnny:Why do the horses have clawed feet?
Johnny:I can't get past clawed feet.
Joshy:Have you seen how much barbed wire these guys go through?
Joshy:These horses are begging for mutation.
Johnny:But wouldn't hooves be better suited for that aspect than fleshy toes?
Joshy:The Kriegs homeworld is a nuclear wasteland.
Joshy:I'm not surprised.
Joshy:Actually, I'm more surprised the horses don't look different.
Johnny:That's like the only difference is they're wearing a mask and they have clawed feet.
Joshy:Yeah.
Johnny:It's insane.
Joshy:I don't know how long it takes to mutate a creature.
Johnny:Yeah, no.
Joshy:Do you know why they all wear masks?
Johnny:I imagine because they come from an irradiated wasteland.
Joshy:There's like a couple of reasons.
Joshy:Some are more headcanon y and theory crafty than the other ones.
Joshy:Their immune system might be a bit messed up because they always need to wear the gas masks of the radiation.
Joshy:It could be a tribute to their homeworld.
Joshy:Maybe they just really like it.
Joshy:Or maybe perhaps they're all clones and they don't want the Imperium at large to realize this.
Johnny:Well, that seems like heresy.
Joshy:When your whole planet goes into nuclear apocalyptic war, how else do you replenish your troops en masse for the imperial tithe?
Johnny:Man, you're not wrong.
Joshy:There's a lot of like bits and bobs that suggest it.
Johnny:But also these dudes get guns on horses.
Johnny:Kind of sick.
Joshy:I really like the Krieg aesthetic and I know that's such an edgelord thing to say.
Joshy:Like I want my Gus mask and shovel.
Joshy:Like it's such a easy sell of a range.
Joshy:Like people go nuts for the Kriegsman.
Joshy:But the actual like, cohesion of like the visual style is great to me.
Joshy:Like they're artillery pieces.
Joshy:Like actual artillery versus just guy with big guns.
Joshy:Oh my.
Joshy:They have four different loadouts for their artillery.
Joshy:They have combat engineers walking around with heavy weapons and a whole mine that takes up its own token on the board, which is adorable.
Joshy:You got Death Riders, which are your cavalry unit.
Joshy:You got a command squad.
Joshy:I fear for the commissar in that command squad.
Joshy:Really?
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Kriegsmen don't value their lives very highly.
Johnny:That is a sick flag though.
Joshy:Oh, yeah.
Joshy:What do you think of their codex art?
Johnny:The codex art is actually gorgeous.
Johnny:It's.
Johnny:It's very different to what a lot of the other codexes have.
Johnny:But I was just like staring at them like it's very old fashioned sort of detail.
Johnny:I kind of dig it.
Joshy:I really like the codex art.
Joshy:It's a pretty.
Joshy:Pretty good little chunk of 40k announcements, isn't it?
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:It looks like the start of next year is going to be a pretty good year for 40k.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:We're going to get some novels as well.
Joshy:They announced some novels.
Joshy:There's three in particular, I think for 40K.
Joshy:I'll tell you what they are.
Joshy:We got the next in the Minka Lesk Cadian series.
Joshy:A line trooper that's worked her way up the ranks to rally her various kinsmen after the destruction of their homeworld.
Joshy:Apparently.
Joshy:It's a fine series.
Joshy:I haven't read it, but apparently she's a good character.
Joshy:Or good enough.
Joshy:We are getting a Carcharadon's Astra re release of their previously done novels with an announcement of a third on the way.
Joshy:And the ninth installment in the dawn of Fire series, which is the modern era storyline of 40K.
Joshy:The Indomitus Crusade.
Joshy:We're getting the ninth installment which is labelled the Silent King.
Johnny:Nekki Boys.
Johnny:Nekki Boys Grafute in the background.
Johnny:And Belisarius Call.
Johnny:I mean, that's some Pariah Nexus goodies.
Joshy:I'm just a little skeptical because of who is writing it.
Johnny:But that special edition cover is real pretty.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:And I don't mean to put him down.
Joshy:Like I've listened and.
Joshy:Well, I've listened and read a few of his books.
Joshy:He's a great writer.
Joshy:He just doesn't do it for me.
Joshy:He gets really into conflicts of the setting really well.
Joshy:He puts a lot of emphasis on the titular characters really well.
Joshy:There's just something about his actual flow that just doesn't tickle my brain as well as I'd like.
Joshy:And that's just the me thing.
Johnny:Yeah, which is perfectly fair.
Johnny:Everyone has difference of opinion when it comes to what they enjoy absorbing from.
Joshy:From absolutely the book.
Joshy:I am interested in the Carcharodons, though.
Joshy:Do you know about the Carcharodons?
Johnny:I know a little bit.
Joshy:The space shark.
Johnny:Yeah, with that really big dude in.
Joshy:Like Tiburos the Redwag, the chapter master that's in Terminator armor, which is half.
Johnny:Dreadnought and he has like giant ridiculously good claws.
Joshy:Yeah, they're like one part Lightning Claw to one part Power Fist to one part Chainsword.
Joshy:Imagine he just grabs you become all the palms.
Joshy:His claws like descend from his wrist into you and then while you're hooked in little chainsaws in his palms, like bleh.
Johnny:Yeah, it's pretty sick.
Joshy:Poor guys.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Pretty cool stuff.
Joshy:But the last announcement I think is arguably more engaging than everything we've talked about.
Joshy:Grotmas.
Johnny:Ah, the last part of the announcement.
Johnny:This was unexpected.
Johnny:Af.
Joshy:This is crazy.
Johnny:But I'm so for it.
Joshy:Explain Grotmas.
Johnny:We are getting.
Johnny:We're getting an advent calendar of detachments for 40K.
Johnny:We're getting every faction 24 new detachments separate from codexes, including for indexed armies that don't have A Codex yet.
Johnny:Man.
Johnny:This is.
Johnny:This is a Christmas drawer.
Joshy:Supposedly stuff that won't be featured in upcoming codexes because it says it can be used with them.
Johnny:And it's them trying to fill some niches and gaps that they.
Johnny:That either didn't make the cut in the codex or that people have asked for.
Johnny:One of these is going to be the index for Death Watch.
Johnny:Exciting for Death Watch.
Johnny:They're only getting their index out of this instead of getting a second one.
Joshy:They're getting it back.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Right.
Johnny:But that's.
Joshy:They're not getting one.
Joshy:They're getting it back.
Johnny:It's 24 days.
Johnny:One every day leading up to Christmas.
Johnny:And yeah, we're going to see some really cool stuff I think.
Johnny:And armies that don't have a Codex yet are about to double in playstyle essentially.
Joshy:Do you have either any wishes for the armies you have or general expectations for the detachments we will get?
Johnny:Give me big Knights matter.
Johnny:That's all I care about.
Johnny:Give me a Chaos army big Nights matter that actually makes the big knights work properly instead of just this rush of war dogs and I'm laughing.
Johnny:I'm so happy.
Joshy:When you play this game.
Joshy:You don't want to just run all of the same unit.
Johnny:You don't want to just run two, three data sheets.
Johnny:Right.
Johnny:And you're 2K armor.
Joshy:Exactly.
Johnny:It's just boring.
Joshy:But.
Johnny:And especially when like the.
Johnny:The big knights are so much cooler looking models.
Johnny:On top of that.
Johnny:I'm excited to see which direction they decide to go with Thousand Sons because that's the army I'm currently start.
Johnny:I'm also excited to see what they do with like Chaos Demons because it won't be one of the four Gods specifically.
Johnny:It'll be something else entirely.
Johnny:Which I think could be really interesting to see where they go.
Johnny:I'm thinking maybe they may be Vashtor of some sort.
Johnny:But I don't know how they would do that without having to introduce him to the index.
Joshy:There's only two other Chaos Powers that aren't really represented by Chaos Demons.
Joshy:It is Vashtor and it's Belacor.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Which I guess they could throw in, I don't know, something Bellacori.
Joshy:What about Chaos Marines?
Johnny:That one's a hard one for me.
Johnny:Like we already got eight detachments.
Johnny:Like we're kind of already gonna give Space Marines for choice and they're about to give us another one for Space Marines.
Joshy:What are they gonna give Space Marines?
Joshy:Man.
Johnny:The Space Marine one is gonna need some serious balancing.
Johnny:Because you gotta be Real careful.
Johnny:What happens with all the Divergent chapters.
Joshy:If you're not careful, you go to Wolf Jail.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:And then Drukhari are going to get a third detachment released.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:When Drukari first released, their index wasn't particularly good.
Joshy:So they released the second one.
Joshy:That had a lot more competitive edge.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:And now they're getting another one.
Joshy:That's cool.
Johnny:I'm curious and I have to do the math.
Johnny:I haven't done the math on how many factions there actually are.
Johnny:But is Slaanesh going to get.
Johnny:Are we going to get an Emperor's.
Joshy:Children possibly in decks, essentially.
Joshy:Let me quickly pull up the list of factions here.
Johnny:There's a lot.
Johnny:I thought there was more than 24.
Joshy:But you got to consider the Space Marines.
Johnny:Yeah, but they're broken down into like four, aren't they?
Joshy:Let's see, you got Space marines and then four successor space marines.
Joshy:So that's five.
Johnny:I count 22.
Johnny:Oh no, because they.
Johnny:This just break.
Johnny:Wrong list.
Johnny:They've put Space Marines in.
Joshy:If they combine all the Space Marines into one and they combine the Knights into one.
Joshy:Not saying they will, but if they do, even if they don't have 22.
Johnny:If you don't.
Johnny:Plus Death Watch 23.
Johnny:So maybe the 24th is Harley Quinn's.
Johnny:No, you're getting one.
Johnny:Maybe the 24th is Emperor's Children getting an actual detachment instead of their index being just csm.
Joshy:Yep.
Joshy:That's a good idea.
Joshy:That's a good idea.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:I can't think of what they're going to do for Space Marines that hasn't already been done.
Joshy:But that'll be interesting.
Joshy:I expect that the detachments will be a relative mix of those that have Codexes will get sort of a fluff army.
Joshy:Like for example, Orcs could get like the Grot Revolution.
Joshy:Or Space Marines could get like a Scout company.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Which hasn't been done.
Joshy:They've done a bit of a sneaky armor one, but not a scout one.
Joshy:I think besides that, there's going to be definitely an, you know, index.
Joshy:Armies have a lot of wiggle room for a detachment.
Joshy:I think in general though, we're going to be probably looking at some fluffier stuff.
Joshy:Overall.
Johnny:I'm sure it will be mostly fluff and probably toned down to not necessarily be competitive.
Joshy:But as a resident Necrons player, I.
Johnny:Was going to say what are you excited to see out of this?
Johnny:Because obviously I've said what I'm excited for.
Johnny:But what do you want to see?
Joshy:Look, as a resident Necrons expert.
Joshy:Not really.
Joshy:I don't.
Joshy:Okay.
Joshy:I'm a Lore expert.
Joshy:I'm not a game expert.
Joshy:If that's not clear by now, you haven't been paying attention.
Joshy:But there are two gameplay avenues that do stick out at me that have yet to really be explored.
Joshy:There is a strong presence meme going through the Necron communities at the moment.
Joshy:The Settlers of Catan.
Johnny:Yep.
Johnny:You want your.
Joshy:Which is Oops or C'tan shards.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:Oops or Catan shards.
Joshy:You got the Voidbringer?
Joshy:Nope, I mixed two together.
Joshy:The Void Dragon, the Nightbringer, the Deceiver, and then Transcendence, which are your generic option.
Joshy:And you can take multiples if you want to buy.
Joshy:I wouldn't be surprised if they.
Joshy:Oh, just Kitbash.
Joshy:Buy some Age of Sigmar Silverneth models and turn trees into primordial beings.
Johnny:For sure.
Joshy:Anyway, Settlers of Catan could be one.
Joshy:But something I could see them actually doing is adapting some of the index elements that we discussed in our Think two episodes ago on our Necrons Wishlist episode making something that really leans into.
Joshy:And you're gonna hate me for what I'm about to say.
Joshy:Reanimation crypts.
Johnny:But they already have reanimation thing.
Joshy:That's the army rule.
Johnny:Oh, nice.
Johnny:And.
Johnny:Oh no.
Joshy:Let's think of some options.
Joshy:Crusader Egg has a couple of ideas, plus one of being led once per battle round.
Joshy:Rerolls.
Joshy:Reanimators have better auras.
Joshy:Warriors do more.
Johnny:Oh yeah, there's definitely more.
Joshy:There's some options, but that's the only two I could foresee because every aspect of Necrons is covered.
Joshy:Unless you do some other generalization.
Joshy:Bring in some of the 9th Edition Dynasty stuff we've talked about already.
Johnny:Anything else that you're excited to see?
Johnny:We have 24 days of Christmas.
Joshy:Oh my gosh.
Joshy:Look, I don't really play enough of the factions, but I think if it's going to be not so fluffy, I think we can expect some character centric detachments as what we've seen in things like Custodians, Orc Bully Boys, Genestealer Cults.
Joshy:There could be a few armies that I actually would love to see getting more of an Allied army theme.
Joshy:For example, Genestealer Cult's half army could be Tyranids.
Johnny:Yep.
Joshy:Well, I didn't even cross representation of Chaos Marines.
Joshy:Tau could have some Imperial Guard, Human defectors, you know, stuff like that.
Joshy:That's what I see.
Joshy:I see chaff, I see Index getting another competitive angle.
Joshy:And I see character centric slash allied Styles of armies.
Joshy:That's what I expect to see.
Joshy:I don't have any particular wishlists.
Joshy:I play Necrons and I'm pretty happy with what I've got.
Joshy:But, yeah, that's what I expect.
Johnny:That's super cool.
Johnny:I think it's a really interesting thing and opens up the future as well to them being able to add detachments.
Johnny:They're shown they're willing to do it.
Joshy:Is there anything else that you expect or would like to see?
Johnny:I think I kind of covered everything for Grotmus.
Johnny:I think once we get like a day or two, that'll really show us the sort of thing where to expect through the rest.
Joshy:My biggest concern is quality.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Which is what makes me think we'll get some fluffier things.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:It also makes me think that maybe.
Joshy:These are flayed ones.
Johnny:Maybe these are the detachments that didn't make the cut and they've just been.
Joshy:Like, yeah, cutting room full.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:It's like, oh, we had these other ideas, but they just didn't make the cut.
Johnny:So we tinkered.
Joshy:Prospects Tactics is going to have a very busy month.
Johnny:Oh, that's a lot of slideshows.
Joshy:Sorry I cut you off.
Johnny:No, that was pretty much the end anyway.
Joshy:All right, look, we've actually been talking for quite some time.
Johnny:Yes, we have.
Johnny:There was a lot revealed.
Joshy:Yes.
Joshy:We could contain this episode here as a smaller episode release, or we could keep going and talk about Kill Team or leave it for the next one.
Johnny:I think the next one's gonna have to wait to talk about Kill Team because we just got lost in all things hype, all things release.
Johnny:Like, it was a huge release weekend.
Joshy:Oh, yeah.
Johnny:One last thing.
Johnny:I read a little bit of it.
Johnny:They're doing the grand narrative, obviously, this weekend as well with the Cassandra system.
Johnny:They're releasing live updates on what's happening.
Johnny:So these are games that are being played at the tournament that are creating the next, like, chapter of this region of space.
Johnny:I think it's really interesting to see some of the stuff they're doing.
Johnny:You've got the different factions all having different goals and trying to work towards these ends.
Johnny:And players actually have the ability to contribute to what's happening by winning or losing games.
Johnny:I think it's.
Johnny:It's going to be really interesting to look back at once it wrapped up and complete and overview exactly what this means for the greatest.
Johnny:Because it's very rare that they do these big narrative focused events where players can reach out and do things.
Joshy:Do you want to hear a fun fact about this community driven event and one of the ones they did in the past.
Joshy:Way back when they had A community influenced 13th Black Crusade Fall of Cadia.
Joshy:Like way before the actual canonized version.
Joshy:They have been doing it a little bit.
Joshy:They did it for the start of 10th edition where they had the Tyranids versus Space Marines.
Joshy:They did it with the Age of Sigmar.
Joshy:Oh my God.
Joshy:I'm Sylvan f pilled.
Joshy:Skaven vs Stormcast.
Joshy:With the winner getting their models announced first.
Joshy:Which in the grand scheme of things isn't exactly a competitive edge.
Joshy:But it's fun.
Johnny:Oh yeah.
Johnny:But the little bit that I have seen Chaos is a.
Johnny:Have found a new demon weapon, the Krennagar which they're trying to ritually release.
Joshy:Try that one again.
Johnny:The Kren Nagar.
Joshy:I like it.
Johnny:The Orki boys are trying to do some psychomech words machine shenanigans.
Johnny:The admech are trying to get into one of the archives.
Johnny:The Ideographicus archives.
Joshy:Trying to find Ideographicus.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:We don't make the names.
Joshy:The meme rights itself.
Johnny:Oh yeah.
Johnny:But there's some really cool like Rogue Trader shenanigans going on there and it'll be really interesting to see where this all wraps up in the end.
Johnny:But I just wanted to include that if we're.
Joshy:That's a great.
Johnny:Something to add on to the hype.
Johnny:Episode of Playbuilt Lore is always fun.
Joshy:Yep.
Johnny:So let's.
Joshy:That's a great inclusion.
Joshy:Thank you.
Johnny:Keep it going.
Joshy:You're adding to the scripts, Johnny.
Johnny:I mean on top of that you're doing your part.
Johnny:They also released another trailer for Secret Level, the new series that's coming.
Joshy:That will be quite fun.
Joshy:I'm trying not to watch many trailers for things I will definitely watch.
Johnny:But it's definitely there and it exists and it's 40k focused.
Joshy:It's gonna be good stuff.
Joshy:Episodes for a lot of different entertainment.
Joshy:Yeah.
Joshy:Getting I think a Helldivers one Space Marine.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Their first.
Johnny:I watched the first trailer and it very all over the place.
Johnny:But it's meant to be.
Johnny:It looks really good.
Johnny:I'm really excited for that as well.
Joshy:It's the Love, Death and Robots studio, isn't it?
Johnny:It sure is.
Joshy:It's a great publicity thing for them.
Johnny:It sure is.
Joshy:Did you watch Love, Death and Robots?
Johnny:Bits and pieces.
Johnny:I don't think I ever sat down and watched it like fully.
Joshy:I know what we're gonna do.
Johnny:It's definitely on my list.
Johnny:That list just gets longer and longer.
Johnny:I Still gotta watch Arkham.
Joshy:I watch half a dozen of them.
Joshy:I think there's like two dozen of them.
Joshy:Every episode's a different animation style and theme.
Joshy:And that's so cool.
Johnny:I love that sort of thing.
Joshy:The fact that you can watch that on Netflix, the fact that you can.
Johnny:Just pick it up and you're not thinking about what happened last episode.
Johnny:It's all just its own simple thing.
Johnny:You sit down, you watch it.
Joshy:Where is such a golden age of animation right now?
Johnny:Yeah, we are.
Joshy:Or Renaissance, I suppose animation still isn't like.
Joshy:It still isn't the hypest thing.
Joshy:You kind of have to already be.
Johnny:Into it, but it's definitely become more significant culturally than it used to be.
Johnny:Like, anime is a lot more accepted than it once was.
Joshy:But think of the movies we've had recently.
Joshy:We've got the Animated Spider Verse, which have been very well received.
Joshy:We had the TMNT animated film, which was quite good.
Joshy:We recently had the Transformers one movie, which, despite the marketing, was actually quite good.
Joshy:We have the Secret Level anthology coming out.
Johnny:Well, we have to shill Arcane here, that they just started their second season.
Joshy:And I was waiting for you to put that in there.
Johnny:I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard very good things.
Joshy:You know what's really hard for me enjoying Arcane is people will come up and be like, hey, you watching Arcane?
Joshy:I'm like, sure am.
Joshy:Oh, what do you think of the characters?
Joshy:Me and my.
Joshy:One of my high school friends played League of Legends.
Joshy:I got into it when Jinx was first added to the game, and that's when I, you know, joined the game, and I was like, oh, I'll just play the noo noo, you know?
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:So I was a Jinx main.
Joshy:And now we have like, a whole animated series where her and a few of the other related characters are in focus.
Joshy:And I'm just.
Joshy:I'm blown away.
Joshy:How do they pull it off?
Johnny:It's.
Johnny:It's amazing the sort of thing that Riot have done with the League of Legends war outside of the video.
Joshy:Yeah, right.
Johnny:The video game itself is a toxic nightmare fuel.
Johnny:But they're doing so much with these, like, comic books and TV series and like, all these other avenues that they've gone down for Lore.
Joshy:A couple of different games as well, like a fighter and a card game.
Johnny:That you cannot find this Lore in game without being a small blurb about a character.
Joshy:Did you ever watch those League of Legend, like, yearly cinematics where they pick like, half a dozen Random heroes from the roster and make this music video esque, high quality Blizzard vibes trailer.
Johnny:Because I was unfortunately a Dota boy.
Joshy:That's what Dota needed.
Joshy:Every time I watched those things I was like, cool, Where's Dota?
Joshy:Where's Dota's version?
Johnny:They tried to do a little bit of that in game in like the recent years, but I think it was too little too late for sure.
Johnny:If you're still playing Dota all for it, like occasionally I'll go back and play a game here and there, but I couldn't imagine still playing it the way I used to.
Joshy:No.
Joshy:Well, what's next for us next Episode Kill Team?
Johnny:We're going to have to push next Episode Kill Team and then after that we'll see where we go from there.
Joshy:So we should have a little discussion about the end of year release catalog, mainly for our mental processing, but also for the few of you listening.
Joshy:Last week's episode will come out delayed.
Joshy:This episode will probably release in the same week as the delayed episode.
Joshy:So you get a twofer.
Joshy:There's going to be one week available for another episode or two, which could be the Kill Team one.
Joshy:I have been bustling my booty to make a pretty lengthy episode which may actually have to wait till next year at this point.
Joshy:But you and I are going to do our own Advent calendar.
Johnny:We sure are.
Joshy:We're going to do a couple more of these length of episodes before we then wrap the year up with about a dozen short form, lore focused, character centric episodes.
Joshy:You're going to take the reins on half?
Joshy:I'm going to take the reins on half.
Joshy:And I'm going to be an editing madman.
Johnny:Hey, it'll be fine.
Johnny:There'll only be ten 15 minute snippets.
Johnny:Just a quick lore bite to show some of the different characters that exist in this world.
Joshy:Since it's a hype episode, should we announce what characters we're going to focus on?
Johnny:We sure could.
Joshy:Or just leave it a secret.
Johnny:I think we should announce a couple.
Johnny:You know, just spoil a little bit.
Joshy:The first couple.
Joshy:Just the first couple?
Joshy:Yeah, yeah, the first one.
Joshy:We're gonna do my first.
Joshy:Your first.
Johnny:That sounds all right.
Joshy:Who are you gonna talk about?
Johnny:I'm gonna start with my main boy.
Johnny:We're gonna kick it off with Fabius Bile.
Joshy:Yum.
Johnny:I have actually.
Joshy:No, he's a bit gross.
Johnny:Hey, hey.
Johnny:No, he's very Rick and Morty.
Johnny:Spoilers.
Joshy:He is, isn't he?
Johnny:Yeah, yeah.
Johnny:Spoilers.
Johnny:He's very Rick and Morty.
Joshy:You were telling me about his shenanigans, and I was like, he's more comedic than I anticipated.
Joshy:Yes, yes, yes is all we'll say and leave it at that.
Johnny:Without spoiling anything, but the end of the third book in his trilogy, the epilogue chapter, was kind of hilarious.
Joshy:Have you got that far?
Joshy:Ready?
Joshy:The trilogy?
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yeah.
Joshy:Are you on to the fourth?
Johnny:Well, the fourth isn't part of the same trilogy.
Joshy:No, but it's got a minute.
Johnny:I'm about to start.
Johnny:Gene.
Johnny:Father.
Joshy:You'll like it.
Johnny:Belisarius v.
Johnny:Fabius.
Johnny:Bile.
Joshy:Yeah.
Johnny:Madman vs.
Joshy:The Netflix Wrestling match.
Joshy:We should have gotten.
Johnny:Don't start me on that.
Johnny:First boxing match I've watched in years, and it was the most disappointing mess.
Joshy:I've never watched a boxing match.
Joshy:Someone's like, you're going to watch the Netflix boxing match.
Joshy:I was like, okay, why not?
Joshy:Why not?
Joshy:And they told me who it was, and I just said, nah, I'm good.
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:It took the two females of the show, all the men up on how boxing.
Johnny:They were amazing.
Johnny:And I will put it out to that.
Johnny:Like, the girls were really good.
Johnny:They fought like their lives depended on it.
Joshy:You know what?
Joshy:And in classic format.
Joshy:I did not even realize they were part of it.
Joshy:Ah, thanks, advertising.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Because they weren't really talked about, but it was a championship match and they fought very well.
Johnny:And that was the bloodiest fight of the night.
Joshy:Oh, boy.
Joshy:Interesting.
Joshy:Okay, with that to the side, my first character is my favorite little shenanigan Necron character.
Joshy:That is not Treys and the Infinite.
Joshy:It is an'rakir, the Traveler.
Johnny:Yes.
Joshy:Not a lot of lore.
Joshy:Admittedly, I think he has a book, but I don't really have time for that.
Joshy:Oh, maybe I will.
Joshy:Maybe I will.
Johnny:Snippets.
Johnny:It's okay.
Johnny:You don't need to read an entire novella.
Joshy:Oh.
Joshy:But I feel like I'd be doing a disservice.
Johnny:Well, go for it.
Johnny:Do it then.
Joshy:No, no.
Joshy:As you said, it's 10 minute lore roundups.
Joshy:Anrakir has some interesting moments.
Joshy:The idea is every character we will discuss will have a model or at least rules to run a model for in the actual game.
Joshy:So we'll also talk a little bit about their stat sheet and their model.
Johnny:Just a little bit.
Joshy:Just to teach.
Johnny:But the main idea is lore focused with a hint of this is how it plays in game.
Joshy:Absolutely.
Joshy:Well, thank you for tuning into our hype episode, Johnny.
Joshy:Do you want to hype anything else before we round it out?
Johnny:I'm pretty sure we're good like that.
Johnny:I just wanted to include those last little bits that I included.
Johnny:And we're all hunky dory.
Joshy:It might be the fever dream we're both experiencing, but I did not anticipate talking about hype releases and announcements for so long.
Joshy:That was.
Johnny:It was a big.
Joshy:If you are still listening to the episode and you're like, didn't Joshy talk about a Kill Team discussion in the first five minutes?
Joshy:Yeah, well, just wait for next time.
Johnny:Oh, we'll get there.
Johnny:We've got some cool stuff.
Joshy:We've done our homework.
Joshy:We're going to have a brief little this is what Kill Team is and why it's different to Warhammer.
Joshy:We're then going to be like, here are a few teams we like to see and maybe how they would kind of play.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:And maybe talk about the teams we have played in the past and how they kind of supposed to work.
Joshy:I still don't really know how the Harley Quinn team works.
Joshy:I just look at an ability, think that's good and do it.
Johnny:It's Shenanigans.
Joshy:I need to just play intercessity Hyper Mobile Shenanigan Team.
Joshy:Yeah, well, you're all about Shenanigans too.
Joshy:Don't hide.
Joshy:But yeah, we'll discuss that next time.
Joshy:I hope you have a good one.
Joshy:Enjoy your hobbying.
Joshy:I hope you've painted something since last time.
Joshy:I haven't even built something since last time.
Johnny:You're supposed to build a Zera.
Joshy:I was busy being both sick and editing a podcast.
Joshy:Thank you.
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:Which I much appreciate.
Joshy:Yeah, you're welcome.
Joshy:One day I'll teach you how to do it.
Johnny:All right, well, let's wrap this up.
Joshy:I'll upskill you.
Johnny:Have a lovely week, everyone.
Johnny:Enjoy your hobby time.
Johnny:We'll see you next time here on the TTPFM.
